Vacationland was the first documentary to confront the housing crisis on the Vineyard and the increasing exodus of generations-old families in the wake of stagnant wages and skyrocketing prices. This is an unflinching look at issues confronting the island such as how to deal with loss of community, what is worth staying for when the 'dream' of owning a house is gone, and how imported labor and the new Brazilian workforce play into the gentrification of what use to be a low-key neighborhood.
